Purpose of this survey: The purpose of this survey is to gather knowledge on the existing services of research software engineering (RSE) teams in Germany. This knowledge will be included in reports to funders on the RSE eco-system and will inform the creation of a federal level institution for research software development.

Survey tool: open source tool Formbricks. The provider of Formbricks states that data processing is GPDR compliant. More information here.

Personal data and anonymity: No personal data (e.g., names, birthdays, addresses, phone numbers, ...) and no sociodemographic data (e.g., gender, age, profession, ...) will be collected. We only ask for the name of your institution, the affiliation and the website of the RSE team. This helps us to avoid duplicate entries and to align the survey data to the RSE teams. There is no registration needed.

Participation: Your participation is voluntary. You do not have to answer all questions, but can skip one or more questions at any time. You can cancel the survey at any time by closing the browser window.

Withdrawal of your participation: To withdraw your participation at a later date, please write an email to falk.schlegelmilch@sub.uni-goettingen.de. Please note that your withdrawal can only take effect for the future. Former data analysis before the withdrawal date remains unaffected.

Exercising your data protection rights: You can request information, correction, restriction, blocking, and/or deletion of your data. To do so, send an email with your request to the following email address: falk.schlegelmilch@sub.uni-goettingen.de

Storage of survey data: Survey data will be stored in the Formbrick´s cloud (EU server, see here) and in the non-public part of the gitlab project https://gitlab.com/futursi. The data will be collected and stored at least until the end of the survey analysis, including publication, or until the end of the FutuRSI project (March 2028) or later. At this point in time, the exact storage period cannot be specified.

Data usage: The survey data will be used by the FutuRSI team for aggregation and analysis of the service structure and management of RSE teams in Germany. Later it is possible that we publish aggregated and/or analyzed data in form such as "The survey participants believe, that ..." or "... participants (...%) offer ... consulting services, ...". Aggregated or analyzed data can be published in journals, internet or other media.

Expense allowances: We don´t provide expense allowances. We appreciate your support with this survey.
